Western Skies is a love song to the mythology of West Texas. Not the cowboy and Indian version, but the one that exists only in my mind.
This is a multi-media endeavor that includes an album, an art book of Polaroids taken on my travels through West Texas and essays written along the way as well as song lyrics, and finally, a series of spoken word essays set to music and video intended to evoke the spirit of the West.
“Western Skies is a near perfect multi-media balancing act performed by poet, essayist, photographer, singer and songwriter, Darden Smith.” – Rodney Crowell
